At State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, entry assessment consists of the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) from the College Board or the paper/pencil version of the CPT called the Florida Placement Test (FPT). The tests are sentence skills, reading skills, elementary algebra and college level mathematics. Application to State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota is required before assessment and there is no additional charge for the CPT. The CPT takes approximately two hours and is available days and evenings. To take the CPT, contact the testing center on either campus.
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota is an open CLEP testing site. State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota will allow credit for satisfactory scores earned in the comprehensive and subject examinations offered by the College Entrance Examination Board. A maximum of 30 hours may be earned in this manner. The student must score at or above the 50th percentile of the national norms. No credit will be allowed if the student has attempted or earned college credit in a course in a similar area or higher level.
Prospective dual enrollment students who have been referred by their high school guidance counselor should contact the testing center on either campus to schedule a CPT test appointment. The testing center will advise students on the appropriate portion(s) of the CPT necessary to enroll in their selected courses.
Advising Center, through the assessment and testing centers on each campus, offers an extensive program of group and individual testing designed to meet the needs of students. The assessment & testing centers will offer Academic Affairs testing for State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota students [i.e., Make-up Exams, and Accommodated Testing.]
Only Nursing Entrance Exam scores completed at SCF will be considered for the SCF Nursing program.
