Access Services

Manatee Community College is fully committed to compliance with both the spirit and letter of disability law. The college has been proactive in developing access and inclusion by design. The ADA Coordinator, in coordination with appropriate college officials, continually identifies and modifies any college rule, practice or procedure, which discriminates against disabled individuals. Due to the unique nature of disabilities and access strategies, specialized equipment or services is often needed by disabled individuals in order for them to fully participate in a college program, service, or activity. The college’s Access Rule explicitly recognizes this need as well as the college’s affirmative obligation of ensuring “meaningful access” and providing “equally effective Communication” to and with disabled individuals. The DRC has established a comprehensive plan for responding to any and all requests for the provision of accommodations (adaptive devices and/or auxiliary staff and services) to meet the individual and unique needs of disabled persons.

The college offers a wide range of Programs, Services and Activities and has developed three separate access procedures (Access to an Event,Access to a Service, and Access to Instruction) suitable to the unique features, parameters, and requirements of the type of service.
