Access Laboratory
The DRC provides an access laboratory containing a variety of adaptive equipment and devices that is open to all registered disabled students. The lab provides students with access to the world wide web and contains equipment such as, Closed Circuit TVs (CCTV), Tape recorders (2 and 4 track), Talking calculators, assistive listening devices, Text Telephone (TTYs), as well as a numerous adaptive computer peripherals (large Monitor, Track ball, adaptive keyboards, voice recognition and synthesis software) as well as scanners and optical character recognition software that converts typed material to electronic format which then allows for multiple output options (audio, large print, Braille). The lab is designed to provide disabled individuals with state of the art equipment which will enable the student to become an independent learner.
