Academic Eligibility
To be academically eligible to apply for the Fresh Start Program, a student must:
1. Have been absent from any postsecondary classes for a period of five or more calendar years.
2. Take the FCELPT to ascertain appropriate class placement the very first term of admission/readmission to MCC. Recommendation: All students wishing to take advantage of the Fresh Start Program must develop their schedule of classes with an academic advisor or counselor prior to enrolling in their first term of admission/readmission to MCC.
3. Enroll as a full-time student, attempt and complete at least 12 load hours the very first term of admission/readmission to MCC. ALL enrolled courses attempted must be successfully completed with a grade of “C” or better. Any grades of “D,” “F” or “WF” will nullify the student’s eligibility for the Fresh Start Program. Please note: Students enrolling full-time should not take more than 15 load hours their first term.
or Enroll as a part-time student, attempt and complete at least six load hours. ALL enrolled courses attempted must be successfully completed with a grade of “C” or better. Any grades of “D,” “F” or “WF” will nullify the student’s eligibility for the Fresh Start Program.
Please note: A part-time student can take as many as 11 load hours their first term. However, all load hours attempted still must be successfully completed with a grade of “C” or better.
