There are three phases to the internship process.  Advertising the internship, securing an intern and completing the evaluations for the internship.

Here's how it works!

Advertise your internship!

  • The best way to advertise your internship is to post the job description on the Online Career Office.
  • Contact a Placement Advisor with questions.
On the Bradenton Campus: Haley Richardson (941) 752-5325, richarh@mccfl.edu
For the Venice Campus: Wanda Kenney (941) 408-1436, kenneyw@mccfl.edu

Secure an intern!

Congratulations on securing an intern!  An orientation is a valuable tool to make this work experience rewarding for you and the intern.  Some helpful hints are:

  • Review company policies with the intern, especially safety procedures.
  • Share with the intern the company history, mission and values.
  • Introduce the intern to the staff.
  • Exchange phone numbers in case of an emergency.
  • Plan related work assignments to keep the intern busy.
  • Set aside time on a regular basis to answer questions.

Reference Letter

Please consider providing the intern with a letter of reference.  A letter of reference can address any of the following:  the student's performance, the student's skill development during the internship, the work accomplished and any contributions made to the department, organization and the community.
