Nick Cafaro
Baseball Class/ JUCO World Series player 1964
Nick attended MCC from 1962-1964 and played for Lancer Hall of Fame member Bob Wynn. While at MCC, Cafaro was a part of the 1963 World Series team that finished second in the nation. Cafaro went on to play at Florida State University after MCC. Nick is currently retired from GTE and lives in Brandon.
He remains close to the program by helping with recruiting in the Tampa area and returns to the college each spring for the Annual Alumni game. Cafaro has been the starting pitcher for the Alumni the majority of the last 25 years.
Jody Reed
MCC 1982 All-State player
FSU 1983-1984
Jody played at MCC from 1980-1982. Reed played for Bob Wynn in his last season as head coach in ’81 and for Lancer Hall of Fame member Tim Hill in his first year at the helm in ’82. He named All-Conference and All-State in 1982 when MCC won its’ first state championship under Coach Hill. Jody went on to play at Florida State and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1984.
Reed played 11 years at the Major League level with the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers. He led the American League in doubles (28) in 1990 and was third in the AL Rookie of the Year voting in 1988. Reed is a private business owner in the Tampa area.
