MOTORCYCLE RIDING & STREET SKILLS
Manatee Community College offers the courses at the Bradenton and Venice campus. For more information or to register for a class, call 941-752-5203 in Bradenton or 941-481-1412 in Venice.
First Run - This three-hour riding course is recommended for first-time riders and should be taken before the Basic Rider Course. The beginning rider will have an opportunity to become familiar with and more comfortable with a motorcycle. Class exercises will include starting and stopping, shifting and stopping, and using the friction zone. The class is taught by a nationally certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Coach. Class size is limited to six students. This class does not meet the Florida Basic Rider Safety Course requirments to register a motorcycle
Fee: $55. Time: Saturday or Sunday, 2 - 5 p.m.
Basic Rider Course (BRC) - This is a complete course of instruction for people of all ages who are interested in developing safe street-riding skills. The course consists of ten and one-half hours of classroom instruction and eleven hours of on-cycle training. The course is required for riders who want to acquire their Motorcycle License. Rider coaches reserve the right to refuse instruction to individuals who are not properly attired and/or do not possess proper documents for training. Fee: $225

Experienced Rider Course (ERC) - This course is for riders who already own and operate motorcycles and know motorcycle-handling techniques. Redirecting Childrens’ Behavior - Level I - Shaun Hoyle teaches parents fast, effective ways to be calmer and more confident as they teach their children to be responsible and cooperative. Easy-to-learn positive parenting techniques will allow parents to redirect a child's behavior through loving guidance rather than ineffective punishment.
