American Home Inspectors Training (AHIT) and MCC have teamed up to offer the nation’s leading home inspection training and marketing support programs to enable you to start and operate your own home inspection business or to be a significant contributor in an established company. The step-by-step processes and extensive experience coupled with a proven track record of preparing and supporting thousands of home inspectors makes this program the right choice for you.

Hands-on training will show you how to succeed as a professional home inspector. Students will join instructors to perform three actual inspections.

CIA Adjuster Boot Camp - is a six day (50 hour) practical course teaching the basics of construction elements through the development of professional reports. Field experiences will enhance the learning process as students learn how to properly develop the Scope (detailed drawing and measurements) and assess damage. Using this information, students will create estimates for catastrophic claims adjusters, contractors and real estate investors using Xactimate 25. Contractors taking the course can gain an added advantage by learning how to estimate jobs correctly thus increasing their bottom line. Real estate investors can learn how to estimate the cost of renovations in detail and generate reports needed to gain financing.

GUARDIANSHIP

Family Guardianship DVD or Video Program - This course is for family guardians who live out of state. A written test is required.

Introduction to Wellness for Seniors - This eight-week program will explore wellness for seniors.  Each week a different aspect of wellness will be presented.  Topics include: nutrition, stress reduction, personal fitness and exercise programs, weight management, balance training, exercise equipment, joint mobility, healthy backs, and occupational and physical therapy. Tai-chi and yoga also will be explored.

Xactimate 25 Software Training 

JEL Training will be teaching the premier software used to estimate property damage for insurance and construction companies. Learn how to diagram roofs, stairs and complex floor plans. Use samples to recreate and learn the various methods to drop-in damages as you customize reports and prepare professional estimates.

MOTORCYCLE RIDING & STREET SKILLS

Manatee Community College offers the courses at the Bradenton and Venice campus.  For more information or to register for a class, call MCC Bradenton 941-752-5203 or MCC Venice 941-481-1412.

First Run - This three-hour riding course is recommended for first-time riders and should be taken before the Basic Rider Course. The beginning rider will have an opportunity to become familiar with and more comfortable with a motorcycle. Class exercises will include starting and stopping, shifting and stopping, and using the friction zone. The class is taught by a nationally certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Coach. Class size is limited to six students. This class does not meet the Florida Basic Rider Safety Course requirments to register a motorcycle
Fee: $55. Time: Saturday or Sunday, 2 - 5 p.m.

Basic Rider Course (BRC) - This is a complete course of instruction for people of all ages who are interested in developing safe street-riding skills. The course consists of ten and one-half hours of classroom instruction and eleven hours of on-cycle training. The course is required for riders who want to acquire their Motorcycle License. Rider coaches reserve the right to refuse instruction to individuals who are not properly attired and/or do not possess proper documents for training.

Experienced Rider Course (ERC) - This course is for riders who already own and operate motorcycles and know motorcycle-handling techniques. Students must use their own motorcycles, must show proof of Liability insurance and provide a MRC endorsment. Your bike will be inspected for safety. This class does not give you the MRC endorcement.

SECURITY OFFICER TRAINING - Class D

Note for Security Officer training students:  If you answer "yes" to any of the following questions, you will not be able to register for the class.  If you have a question about any of the questions, contact the Department of Agriculture/Division of Licensing to have the staff determine if you are eligible to obtain a license (941-575-5770):

  • Has a court ever adjudicated you incompetent?
  • Have you even been involuntarily placed in a treatment facility for mental illness? 
  • Are you a chronic and habitual user of alcoholic beverages to the extent your normal faculties are impaired?
  • Have you ever been sent to a treatment facility by the Marchman Act.
  • Have you ever been arrested for disorderly Intoxication?
  • Have you been arrested for DUI within the last 3 years?
  • Have you been committed for controlled substance abuse?
  • Have you been found guilty of a crime related to controlled substances within the last 3 years?
  • Have you ever been convicted of a crime?
  • Are you a current or retired law enforcement officer?

Security Officer Training - Part I - To qualify for this training, you must be a citizen or resident alien of the United States, be at least 18 and have no felony convictions (see questions above). Successful completion of this 24-hour course, scheduled once per month over a weekend, enables you to apply for a Class D license.

Private Investigator Licensure - Part I - Class CC - This 24-hour course provides the basic information on becoming a licensed private investigator. Information includes regulation of the industry, department rules, licensing criteria and techniques of investigation. This course qualifies applicants to apply for a private investigator's internship through the Florida Division of Licensing. This class meets the state licensing requirements to earn the Private Investigator Intern license.

Children and Divorce - English & Spanish - This four-hour course that fulfills the court-ordered requirement of the 12th Judicial Circuit (Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties). You must arrive 15 minutes before the class. Please be sure to bring your case number to class. A certificate of completion will be sent to the court after you have paid the fee, attended the class and advised us of your case number. Spouses may not take the course together. Your Time with Your Children: Understanding the Florida Parenting Plan


This course is designed to familiarize parents with the requirements of a parenting plan in the legal process and how to prepare a parenting plan to submit to the courts that promotes the best interest of your children. Steve Zonakis, former judge pro tem, will help parents understand the Shared Parental Responsibility Contact Guidelines and how to consider these guidelines when preparing an effective parenting plan.
During the course you will learn what a parenting plan is and how it is used by the court system, how to create one yourself and what Florida laws a parent should be familiar with regarding shared parental responsibilities.
This six-hour course meets two hours each week for three consecutive weeks. Participants completing the course will receive a certificate of completion.

Keeping Children Out of the Middle

The 10 hour course is designed to education and familiarize parents with the short term and long term effects exposing kids to parential conflict, in a divorce or out of the home parent setting, has on their children.  The course focuses on assisting both parents to identify areas and issues of conflict in their relationship with the other parent which their children are being exposed to, and to develop new stategies of addressing and resolving these issues and conflicts without adversely affecting their children.

The course meets two hours a week for five weeks with each parent attending two individual parent sessions and both parents attending one joint parent session.  A certificate of completion will be given at the conclusion of the class to show the court you have attended.  The course textbook is included in the price of the class.  Cost: $59
