Assessment and Testing Center Policies and Procedures

IDENTIFICATION

  • All testers will present a photo ID for verification purposes prior to any test/exam administration.

TEST/EXAM SETTING

  • The Assessment/Testing Center will provide a quiet place free from distractions for students to take tests and exams under supervision.
  • Cell phones, beeper/pagers, calculators, dictionaries or notes are not allowed to be used during placement testing.

TEST/EXAM MATERIALS

SECURITY:

  • The Assessment/Testing Center will keep all tests/exams in a secure area prior to testing.

PREPARATION:

  • The Assessment/Testing Center will ensure that all test/exam instructions provided will be followed as per requirements or instructions provided with the test/exam.

TEST/EXAM ADMINISTRATION

  • The Assessment/Testing Center will follow all instructions and requirements provided with tests/exams.
  • Monitor test/exam takers during the allotted time limits.
  • After test/exam completion, all tests/exams, and any scratch or notebook paper will be collected.

POST TEST/EXAM PROCEDURE

  • The Assessment/Testing Center will promptly return the completed tests/exams to the instructor or institution.

TEST/EXAM IRREGULARITY PROCEDURES

The Manatee Community College Assessment/Testing Center is committed to providing all students with a favorable test/exam environment. The following irregularities and incidents will be reported to the testing supervisor, instructor or test service provider that utilize the Assessment/Testing Center.

Disturbances:

  • Cell phone usage
  • Beepers
  • Talking
  • Late arrival
  • Examinee misconduct – defined as creating a disturbance
Lost or Stolen Items:
  • The Assessment & Testing Center is not responsible for lost or stolen articles left in lockers or in the reception area. Personal items [i.e., backpacks, books, cell phones, jackets should be stored in lockers or cars. The ATC staff will not accept, nor be responsible for personal items.
Environmental Problem:
  • Fire Alarm
  • Power Outage
  • Construction

Illness

  • First Aid is available at the Public Safety Office on both campuses 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

    Assistance During Testing

  • The Assessment/Testing Center is unable to make corrections or answer questions regarding any tests or exams.
  • The student will be referred to the instructor or test/exam service provider for assistance.

Cheating

  • Cheating is any unauthorized activity that impairs or alters the circumstances of the examination as a measure of the knowledge or skills it was designed to assess.
  • Notification process: Assessment/Testing personnel will not confront any tester who is cheating, but will complete the Testing Irregularity Form and submit to the instructor, or tester’s institution for handling.

EMERGENCY AND CAMPUS SECURITY PROCEDURES

FIRST AID EMERGENCY:

First Aid is available at the Public Safety Office on both campuses 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

MCC BRADENTON - a health clinic is located in the Student Union, Room 120 [just inside the east entrance to the left]. Employees and students may receive first aid when required. In CASE OF EMERGENCY, DIAL 65550; IF LIFE THREATENING, DIAL 9-911.

MCC VENICE – a first aid station is located in the Student Center, room 501.

In CASE OF EMERGENCY, DIAL EXTENSION 61550; IF LIFE THREATENING, DIAL 9-911.

CAMPUS SAFETY AND SECURITY:

Manatee Community College is committed to ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The College maintains security services 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.

  • MCC BRADENTON – on campus, dial 65550; from off campus dial 752-5550.
  • MCC VENICE – on campus, dial 61550; from off campus dial 408-1550

In case of fire alarm/building evacuation, please:

  • Direct occupants to the nearest exit.
  • Do not use the elevator [MCC BC].
  • Stay at least 500 feet away from the building[s].
