Acceleration and Enrichment Programs at MCC offer high school students the opportunity to get a head start on a college education prior to high school graduation!

Dual Enrollment: From High School to College

What is Dual Enrollment?

The Dual Enrollment program at Manatee Community College allows qualified high school students to enroll in selected college courses to satisfy high school graduation requirements and the associate degree. Students wanting to enroll in Dual Enrollment courses should initiate the enrollment process with their high school guidance counselor and/or home school liaison, as high school graduation requirements have to be verified prior to registration. Most college costs are waived for students enrolled in Dual Enrollment Courses.

Who can Dual Enroll?

  • Dual Enrollment is an acceleration program where students must meet the following qualifications to be considered:
  • Unweighted 3.0 G.P.A. on high school work (Dual Enrollment and Early Admissions only)
  • Qualifying placement test scores on: College Placement Test (CPT), SAT, or ACT (see Minimum Qualifying Test Scores)
  • Approval of high school principal and guidance counselor or home school liaison
  • Enrolled in a school or organization which has a formal Articulation Agreement with MCC for Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment Updates

  • Maximum course load policy of two (2) courses per term on the MCC campus will continue to be enforced. Students will be permitted to enroll in MCC Campus-based dual enrollment courses for a maximum of 6 (6) terms; including summer terms. This does not apply to seniors participating in the Early Admissions Program.
  • A Dual Enrollment Deadline will be implemented for students taking MCC Campus-based courses (this includes all returning dual enrollment students).

All Dual Enrollment Applications and Approval Forms Must be Submitted by:

Spring 2009
Friday, December 5   Last day for dual enrollment students to submit Acceleration and Enrichment applications and dual enrollment approval forms to MCC for Spring 2009 term.
Summer 2009
Monday, April 20 Last day for dual enrollment students to submit Acceleration and Enrichment applications and dual enrollment approval forms to MCC for Summer 2009 term.

What is College Enrichment?

College Enrichment allows qualified high school students to enroll in approved courses that are selected to add depth to their high school academic program. Credits earned will apply toward an associate degree, but will not be creditable toward high school graduation requirements. Students are responsible for all college-related costs including tuition, fees, and books.

Who can Participate in College Enrichment?

College Enrichment is an acceleration program where students must meet the following qualifications to be considered:

  • Qualifying placement test scores on: College Placement Test (CPT), SAT, or ACT (see Minimum Qualifying Test Scores)
  • Approval of high school principal and guidance counselor or home school liaison.

What Is Early Admission?

Early Admission is a form of dual enrollment wherein qualified high school students enroll at MCC on a full-time basis. Students must have completed six semesters of high school credit and enroll in courses used toward high school graduation requirements and the associate degree. Requirements to participate in the Early Admission Program are the same as the requirements to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program. Most college costs are waived.
